Rachel Weisz is the fabulous British actress who you probably best remember for her role in The Mummy and The Mummy Returns. Both films were box office hits around the world, however Rachel has appeared in a great many more films. She easily does both mainstream films and smaller independent films. In 2003 she not only starred in, but produced The Shape of Things, in which she starred in the original stage version in London and then in New York.
She was born to a Hungarian father and Austrian mother in North London on March 7, 1971. A rebellious child, she began modeling around age fourteen. Her parents insisted that before she pursue her career in the arts, she get a proper education. While studying English at Cambridge, she performed in many plays and formed a theatre group called Talking Tongues. She began appearing in films in the mid-1990's and has worked steadily ever since.
The 2005 Rachel appeared in The Constant Gardener with Ralph Fiennes. The film brought Rachel a Golden Globe Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award, a BAFTA nomination and finally an Academy Award.
She was engaged to director Darren Aronofsky (Requiem For a Dream) and the two have a son named Henry who was born on May 31, 2006. In late 2010, Rachel and Aronofsky announced their split after eight years together. On June 22, 2011, Rachel married fellow British actor Daniel Craig in a small ceremony with only four guests.
